Enjoy The Little Things in Life- Surprise Inside Cakes
I’m sure you may have seen these before, however if you haven’t I welcome you into a new and exciting world – the world of surprise inside cakes!
We’re often told to enjoy the little things in life. Why? Well I believe it’s because you can find unexpected happiness in the littlest things. Whether you are 5 or 50, you can’t help but find some unanticipated joy and excitement from surprise inside cakes. They are one of those little things worth enjoying not only because cake is delicious, but also because you never expected to find something fun and quirky inside. Yes… I am currently obsessed with them!
So what are they?
They’re simply a cake that has been decorated on the inside and gives you a pleasant surprise when you cut into it. I am baker is the Queen of surprise inside cakes – she even has her own book about them. She has four different methods of creating these masterpieces, and if you’re interested in learning how to make these amazing cakes, I suggest popping over to her blog for more!
If you would prefer to just admire them, that is totally okay too. Whatever makes you smile.
Check out some of my favourites.
I love the simplicity of this cake, with the burst of colour booming from the rainbow heart in the centre. The delightful inside just has to brighten up your day! This is an I am Baker creation.
Okay, I know it’s a little late for some Easter inspiration but you have to admit, this creation from I am Baker is quite adorable. The little ones will love it! Although it is best suited for Easter, this cake can be adapted to fit the right occasion, such a birthday party. Whether or not you cut the cake before presenting so you can see that it is a bunny, or wait and let your guests guess what exactly is poking out from the top, they will surely be surprised.
This hidden heart cake, is filled with so much delight and LOVE. It is great for any occasion, especially if you are celebrating an anniversary, Valentines Day or just looking for a romantic gesture. Into romance or not, this cake filled with hearts is way too cute to pass up.
Want something a little more extravagant? Bring on the piñata cake – SURPRISE you get M&Ms with your cake too!
Fill the inside with any particular confectionary of your choice for something extra. This has to be one of my favourite cakes of all time. I’m not sure about you, but I love my candy, and this would be the greatest cake surprise ever if I had no idea what was waiting for me when I cut the cake! Bursting of yumminess – literally!
This one was found on A Subtle Revelry.
You can make them in different shapes, sizes and colours. Fill them with whatever candy pleases your soul and enjoy. Here are some I came across on Pinterest. Head to our board to find more inspiration.
I also came across this, it has 30 different surprise inside cakes! I think the kiddies will like helping with some of these too. A great school holiday activity perhaps?
And with that I shall leave you with: Don’t forget to enjoy the little things in life, even if it is as simple as cutting into a cake to find candy or a pleasant little surprise. If you’re the super baker behind one of these creations, don’t forget to enjoy making someone else smile from what they find within your creation.
